Upcoming / Current

Praise Group – Rehearsals usually take place at 6.45pm every Friday in the hall but are currently suspended during the Covid-19 period. We have some singers leading Sunday worship ‘out the front’ but we are still restricted in their number (though total congregation numbers are no longer meaningfully restricted).

The Lossie Singers (Choir) – After our successful visit to Donau Eschingen in Germany in October 2019, rehearsals resumed in early 2020, were then ‘on hold’ for a period but then resumed via Zoom approximately every 2 weeks on Friday evenings from 7.30pm. From September 2021, we resumed in the Hall on Friday evenings at 7.30pm for about an hour. We keep the hall well-ventilated and, though we sing without masks, we maintain social distancing and wear masks when moving about. The Choir is good fun and fellowship and a chance to learn some religious and non-religious songs in a relaxed and entirely non-judgemental atmosphere. The Choir had a very successful Christmas Concert in December 2021. If you are interested in coming along, contact us via the website or the church’s Facebook page. The Choir is having a breack for the month of January 2022.

Weekly
Mondays 2.30pm – Guild (More details here)
Wednesday 2pm (Every second Wednesday) – Drop in, St James’ Hall (More details further down this page) (Note this is currently suspended until further notice).
Thursday 4pm – Junior Praise Group practice in the Fellowship Hall
Friday 1.30 – 3.30pm – Indoor Bowling in St James’ Hall (More details here)
Fridays 7pm – Praise Group practice in St James’ Hall (Note: currently suspended until further notice but see The Lossie Singers, above)

Morning Service

Sunday services at St James’ begin at 10:00am.

Our Good News Club (Sunday School) runs during this time. You can find out more details about how GNC works in this article.

Tea and Coffee is normally served in the Hall following every morning Service, when we join together for a time of fellowship. (Note: currently still suspended until further notice due to Covid).

Joint Bible Study Group

This normally meets every Wednesday at 7:30pm at the Manse. More details in this short article.  All welcome. During Covid times, there is a weekly Wednesday Zoom meeting led by our Minister and attended by folks from both Churches in the linkage. Again, all are welcome. The meetings generally follow the format of a Reflection, followed by a Bible study and then a time of prayer focusing especially on people known to us within our congregations and wider community. This a good time of fellowship, reflection and prayer. If you are interested in attending, please contact us via this website in the first place and our Minister, Geoff, will send you a Zoom link. Weekly Zoom meetings have resumed from September 2021.

The Former Manse

Thank you very much to everyone who helped in any way with the renovation and preparation of the former manse and gardens for letting. All your hard work and time given has been greatly appreciated. Our first tenants moved in on Friday 9th September 2016.

Why our ultimate basis for hope is that we are wanted by God

August 7, 2022 By 2

Sunday 07 August 2022 is the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost.

Welcome to our service materials for this week, where the main reading is from the Old Testament – Isaiah 1 – which contains the following instructions (Isaiah 1:17):

Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.

…the ultimate reason for our hope is not to be found at all in what we want,
wish for and wait for; the ultimate reason is that we are wanted and wished for
and waited for.

Jürgen Moltmann (1977)
