Barnabas at St James (A Musical by Roger Jones)

August 18, 2017 by 2

Tickets are now on sale for the performance of the musical, “Barnabas”, at St James’ Church – at 7.30pm on 20 September 2017.

While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”  Acts 13:2

The musical tells the exciting story of Barnabas the Encourager, as he and Saul visit Cyprus on the first part of their missionary journey. As they travel from Salamis in the east to Paphos in the west, they share the Good News of Jesus with Jews and Gentiles. The story culminates in a dramatic encounter with the Roman Proconsul and a Jewish sorcerer.

Roger Jones (composer) and his wife, Mary, have been in full-time Christian music ministry since 1984. Originally a music teacher in Birmingham, Roger has become widely-known across the UK and abroad for his Christian musicals and his ministry – teaching in churches on worship and renewal.

Helped by their small team, Roger and Mary run Christian Music Ministries, providing mail order resources and running courses, conferences and tours.

Alison Fuggle has again written the lyrics for most of this musical, as she has done for each of the last 8 major musicals by Roger Jones.

Approximately every second year, Roger has been coming to Moray with members of his team

– that’s over about the last 12 years or so.

Previous musicals staged at St James include: “Wildfire”; “Jailbreak”; “Rock”; and “Two Sisters and a Funeral”. The format is that CMM’s folk fill the lead parts and the chorus is then made up of local singers – including our own church Praise Group.

This year, as in previous years, CMM’s visit includes a performance of the musical at Aberlour Parish Church (on 21st September).

We would encourage you to attend what has always been a memorable evening, one which we think you will find joyful and spiritually uplifting.

Tickets are now on sale, priced £5.00, available from members of the Praise Group or from Buckley’s Newsagents, Queen Street, Lossiemouth.

The ticket price includes refreshments in the Fellowship Hall after the performance.

If you would like more information at all, feel free to send us an enquiry via this website.

We would love to see you for Barnabas at St James!

All proceeds donated to Christian Music Ministries.

How it is that Christ has set us free

June 26, 2022 By 2

Sunday 26 June 2022 is the third Sunday after Pentecost.

The answer to the question implied by our headline today has a lot to do with Love – and a choice.

Below, you’ll find our ‘headline’ Scriptural passage from Paul’s letter to the Galatian Church, taken from the New Testament.
